What is moxibustion? How does it work? Moxibustion involves the application of heating sensation onto the surface of our body. How is it different from regular thermobustion or, simply, taking a hot bath? The main difference lies in the philosophy.  Moxibustion is Eastern medicine based. Its purpose is to assist the energy flow through the Meridian lines inside our body. Therefore all efforts of Moxibustion are typically focused on the Meridian lines of our body. Pressure points (a.k.a. acupoints) along Meridian lines are considered to be the clogged spots of our body and will be the target of the therapy. Moxi-sticks are held closely to these points during a moxibustion therapy and typically for one session only on a limited number of pressure points along a certain Meridian line, or in a certain area can be addressed. The goal is to stimulate these spots and resolve blockages inside so a health energy flow can resume. Different pressure points serve different purposes regarding health benefits. In a moxibustion session, heat released from the Moxi-sticks comes onto the skin in a naturally diffusing pattern. Meaning at the receiving end, the heat is constant and non-constant at the same time. The pressure points on our skin effectively go through a periodic variation of temperatures for stimulation. According to Eastern medicine this is one of the best ways of stimulating pressure points. Key words: ‘stimulation', ‘variation’. Moxibustion is one of the hidden jewels in the Eastern medicine realm with proven benefits. But normally moxibustion is not easy to apply day in and day out. Doing a moxibustion session takes some effort and time. What if modern technology can integrate this therapy into a practical package? An easy-to-use device that can closely mimic the effect? A session can be applied without hassles even while doing other things? ViGO Energy Pal/Energy Med has done exactly that! A palpable moxibution effect as a part of its functions and benefits.

ViGO Energy Pal is a unique and innovative product even within the modern physical therapy industry. ViGO Energy Pal contains and applies Western elements and Eastern elements simultaneously to the human body for an optimal therapeutic effect. And over the past 20+ years with all the positive feedbacks, this ideology of ours has proven itself to be totally ingenious and the effort (to create the product) worthwhile. Aside from the “prominent” 5 energies, ViGO Energy Pal has a “hidden” ingredient: The “Acupuncture Sequences”. ViGO Energy Pal’s energies are ingeniously designed to work together to form an effect in an equivalence to a “virtual acupuncture” or “acupuncture without the needles”. When we place one of our body parts (typically rich of acu-points) on the surface of ViGO Energy Pal for therapy, the acu-points under that part of skin get to be gently massaged by the energies released from ViGO Energy Pal, in a very similar way them being stimulated during a session of acupuncture. In the Eastern medicine realm, backed by the knowledge of reflexology and acupuncture, this “massage” on the acu-points has an immense and long-term positive effect on the whole body’s wellbeing. But a “massage” like this requires skills & experience to reach an optimal result. During a traditional acupuncture session, after the acu-needles go into the skin, to realize optimal effects, an authentic acupuncturist will apply to the needles gentle maneuvers, such as gentle twisting, flicking, vibration, pushing&pulling and heating sometimes throughout the whole process. The applied-pressure level, direction, time pattern (sequences) all matter. The purpose is for the Meridian Lines to be best stimulated, for blockages to be resolved and therefore enhancing energy flows throughout (parts of) the body. There exist optimal sequences for these mini maneuvers. i.e. a "music sheet” of rhythms, continuums and pauses, forces and spatial directions. A group of these choreographed “dance movements” stacked together forms a set. A good acupuncturist has their own best sequences and therefore a signature set of maneuvers. A good set of these maneuvers can and will differentiate a highly effective acupuncture session from a mediocre one. Sets of maneuver sequences have been embedded in ViGO Energy Pal’s program. Maneuver effects have been materialized via the mini-control of the intensity, period and pause, spatial direction, rotation, push& pull of the energies output from ViGO energy pal that are designed to mimic the effect of an acupuncture session. All of these embedded sequence sets are the best picked and highly classical ones. When ViGO Energy Pal runs, these sets of mini maneuvers are automatically applied to the receiver. The back story. During the making of our ViGO Energy Pal, we had worked together with a selected group of established professors of Eastern Medicine and Qi masters on the topic of best sequences of acupuncture maneuvers. This was groundbreaking work both for the acupuncture community and for the therapy device industry. It was the first time such work had been done. In a way ancient acupuncture technique had been modernized. We then converged the sequence sets into a few most classic ones, each of them of a long historical presence. We bit-by-bit translated them into the "electronic language” and implemented into our device: ViGO Energy Pal, where acupuncture effect is mimicked by the output of man made physical energies. We have tested the actual effect, the sequence sets for countless times and optimized them over the years for the best overall results. This Eastern element is hidden and subtle. But it differentiates a highly effective acupuncture effect from a mediocre one. A related question: When a customer uses ViGO Energy Pal, How do they know they are applying the device to the correct acupoints? Do they have to be an expert in order to use ViGO Energy Pal? How do we know where the acupoints are? Answer: ViGO Energy Pal’s philosophy is “extremely practical and easy to use”. It is designed for everyone in all usage scenarios. Complicated technology is implemented in a minimalist device body with a simple operation interface. The usage of the device is easy and basically fool-proof. Indeed an end user doesn’t need to possess any Eastern acupuncture knowledge to use ViGO Energy Pal. The effect is already there. Acupoints will automatically be gently massaged and stimulated. Also, there is no “bad effect” for stimulating a “wrong” acupoint: There is no such thing as “a wrong acupoint”. They all have their own beneficial effects when being stimulated. ViGO Energy Pal can be used as is. i.e. with any given posture, for however long, daily. No particular attention needs to be paid to thus extra effect as it runs in the “background”. This being said we do recommend first time users to focus more on the foot posture and the hand posture. While acupoints are dotted throughout our body, the soles and the palms are the most acupoints-rich areas of the body and have significant meaning and effect in the Eastern medicine on the overall wellbeing. We also recommend long term users to rotate between different postures, on a regular base. Try placing the device onto different parts of our body surface from time to time when we are deeper into the therapy course. This way different acupoints on our body get to be touched and addressed by the energy, a worthwhile effort to fully utilize therapeutic effect of ViGO Energy Pal!

One of the significant benefits of PEMF therapy is its ability to enhance blood circulation. PEMF therapy aids in blood circulation by stimulating the production of nitric oxide, a molecule that relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow. Nitric oxide helps dilate blood vessels, reducing resistance and allowing blood to flow more efficiently. By improving circulation, PEMF therapy enhances the delivery of oxygen, nutrients, and immune cells to various tissues and organs, promoting overall health and healing. Numerous studies have investigated the effects of PEMF therapy on blood circulation. Research has shown that PEMF therapy can increase blood flow velocity, improve microcirculation, and enhance oxygenation of tissues. In a study published in the Journal of Orthopaedic Research, PEMF therapy was found to increase blood flow in the treated area by up to 35%. The beneficial effects of PEMF therapy on blood circulation can be attributed to several mechanisms. Firstly, PEMF therapy increases the production of nitric oxide, as mentioned earlier. Nitric oxide acts as a potent vasodilator, relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow. Secondly, PEMF therapy stimulates the release of growth factors, such as vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which promotes the growth of new blood vessels. This process, known as angiogenesis, aids in the formation of collateral blood vessels, improving blood circulation to previously deprived areas. PEMF therapy has wide-ranging applications in healthcare in relation to its ability to improve blood circulation. It can be used in the management of various conditions, including cardiovascular diseases, chronic wounds, and musculoskeletal disorders. For instance, PEMF therapy has been shown to be effective in reducing pain, promoting tissue healing, and enhancing post-operative recovery. Furturemore, for example, in cardiovascular diseases, PEMF therapy can improve blood flow to the heart, reducing the risk of ischemic events. It may also help manage hypertension by promoting vasodilation and reducing arterial stiffness. Additionally, PEMF therapy has shown benefits in diabetic foot ulcers by enhancing blood flow to the affected area, facilitating wound healing.

In the previous post, we discussed High Potential therapy's effects on expediting stroke recoveries. In this post, we are going to look at this topic from the PEMF therapy angle. While PEMF and High Potential are both electromagetic energies, they each have their own mechanisms when it comes to the improvement of stroke conditions. PEMF in and of itself has its own specific effects for stroke recovery. The Role of PEMF Therapy in Stroke Recovery: 1. Enhanced Neuroplasticity: PEMF therapy has shown promise in enhancing neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to reorganize and form new neural connections. By stimulating electrical activity in the brain, PEMF therapy may help restore lost functions and improve motor skills in stroke survivors. 2. Improved Blood Circulation: Stroke often leads to impaired blood flow to the affected areas of the brain. PEMF therapy has been found to promote vasodilation and improve blood circulation, potentially aiding in the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to damaged brain tissue. 3. Reduced Inflammation: Inflammation plays a significant role in stroke-related brain damage. PEMF therapy has been shown to possess anti-inflammatory properties, which may help mitigate the secondary damage caused by excessive inflammation. 4. Neuroprotective Effects: PEMF therapy has been found to have neuroprotective effects, shielding brain cells from further damage and promoting their survival. This could contribute to minimizing the long-term effects of stroke, such as cognitive impairment and motor deficits. One study investigating the effects of PEMF therapy on cervical disc herniation (CDH) found significant improvements in pain, disability, psychological state, and quality of life in patients receiving PEMF therapy. These positive outcomes suggest the potential efficacy of PEMF therapy in stroke recovery. Studies on stroke patients also have demonstrated improvements in mobility and cognitive skills with routine PEMF therapy. As the field of PEMF therapy continues to advance, there is growing optimism regarding its potential applications in stroke recovery. Ongoing research aims to establish optimal treatment protocols, identify specific frequencies and intensities, and explore the combination of PEMF therapy with other rehabilitation approaches. PEMF therapy holds promise as an adjunctive treatment for stroke recovery. Its ability to enhance neuroplasticity, improve blood circulation, reduce inflammation, and provide neuroprotective effects makes it a potentially valuable tool in the rehabilitation process. While further research is needed to establish its effectiveness and optimal application in stroke recovery, PEMF therapy offers hope for improving the quality of life for stroke survivors in the future. For the same reasons above, PEMF can also serve as a great tool for stroke prevention.

Stroke is a leading cause of disability and death worldwide. While several preventive measures and treatments exist, researchers and medical professionals continue to explore new avenues to enhance stroke prevention strategies. One emerging modality under investigation is High Electric Potential (HEP) therapy. Prevention Various studies have explored the neuroprotective effects of HEP therapy, suggesting its potential in stroke prevention. The application of electrical fields has been shown to enhance the production of neurotrophic factors, such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which play a crucial role in neuronal survival and synaptic plasticity. By promoting the growth and survival of neurons, HEP therapy may help protect the brain from ischemic injury, the most common type of stroke caused by a blockage in a blood vessel. Recovery The aftermath of a stroke can be devastating, resulting in physical, cognitive, and emotional impairments. Traditional rehabilitation methods have focused on restoring lost functions through physical therapy and medication. However, emerging therapies such as High Electric Potential (HEP) therapy are showing promise in enhancing stroke recovery. One of the primary mechanisms through which HEP therapy aids in stroke recovery is by improving blood circulation and reducing inflammation. Stroke is often caused by a disruption in blood supply to the brain, leading to tissue damage. HEP therapy can enhance blood flow by dilating blood vessels and improving microcirculation. This increased blood flow helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to the affected areas, facilitating tissue repair and regeneration. Furthermore, HEP therapy has been found to reduce inflammation in the vascular system. Inflammation plays a crucial role in stroke progression and can lead to further damage. By modulating inflammatory responses, HEP therapy helps create an optimal environment for healing and recovery. In addition to its effects on blood circulation and inflammation, HEP therapy exhibits neuroprotective properties. During a stroke, the brain tissue is subjected to oxidative stress and damage, leading to neuronal death. HEP therapy has been shown to counteract these detrimental effects by reducing oxidative stress and promoting the production of antioxidants in the body. Furthermore, HEP therapy stimulates the production of neurotrophic factors, such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which support the survival and growth of neurons. These neurotrophic factors play a vital role in the regeneration and rewiring of neural circuits, facilitating functional recovery after a stroke. A study published in the Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases found that patients who received HEP therapy in conjunction with standard rehabilitation showed significant improvements in motor function, balance, and activities of daily living compared to those who received standard rehabilitation alone. Another study published in the Journal of Clinical Rehabilitation and Tissue Engineering Research reported that HEP therapy improved cognitive function and quality of life in stroke patients. These findings suggest that HEP therapy has the potential to enhance both physical and cognitive recovery in stroke survivors. Further research is needed to establish optimal treatment parameters, determine the long-term effects, and identify the specific patient populations that would benefit the most from HEP therapy. Large-scale clinical trials are necessary to validate the findings and provide evidence regarding the efficacy of HEP therapy in stroke rehabilitation.

In previous posts we described in detail the engineering difficulty of combining High Potential and PEMF functions into one device that simultaneous energies can be output from one surface for therapy. A natural question would next be: what is the therapeutic benefits of receiving these very two therapies at the same time? What is the efficacy gain? Or Can I find two separate devices,  singularly High Potential and PEMF each, apply the therapies in time sequence and should I expect similar efficacy? Or can I have the two singular devices and try apply them onto two parts of my body simultaneously and expect a similar effect? Very reasonable questions. The short answer is: No, it is not the same. Yes, there is a clear difference in efficacy gain laying in the simultaneity. On our Earth’s surface, natural terrestrial electric potential fields co-exit with natural earthy PEMF fields. They are created naturally by and from our mother Earth itself. They are ever present and always simultaneous. That is: natural electric elements and magnetic elements are intertwined at all time in any Earth's surface environment. The fields also behave this way within all our body’s biological processes. In the inside of our body, countless biologic electric field-related and magnetic field-related processes take place at any given moment. Electric processes and magnetic procedures intertwine to form metabolism, that our body’s livelihood is intrinsically a binary product of electric and magnetic reactions. Both explicit electric energy and magnetic energy are needed and consumed simultaneously for any micro process within our body. High Electric Potential therapy works by gently boost body cells’ membrane potential. This way the process of substances (nutrients and wastes, molecules and clusters) coming in and going out of the cells is enhanced. Cells (and mitochondria) become more efficient. PEMF works by letting substances actually ride on its pulsating lines along the channels (also the surrounding field lines it inducts). Substances’ logistics again gets promoted. High Potential facilitates body’s substance transport in the "penetrating" direction meaning "in-out" and "out-in" of cell membranes. PEMF enhances substance transport in the parallel directions along natural body channels. With these two combined, a “3D” network is constructed. Substance logistics makes up the bulk of all metabolic processes. Most of the daily energy consumed by our cells and mitochondria actually goes into substance transport. Our body functions much better and feels more energetic when its global and local transport gets an enhancement. High Potential and PEMF, one without the other, doesn’t fully mimic our body’s mechanism and hence lack the boosting effects it needs. High Potential combined with PEMF is highly consistent with substance transport mechanism within our body on a micro scale. This is one of the aspects in our study why High Potential combined with PEMF simultaneously is key for efficacy.

At ViGO, we keep mentioning, proudly, we are the first portable therapeutic device to successfully integrate High Electric Potential therapy (and 3 more energy modalities) into a PEMF device. It becomes 5-in-1. So what is the technical difficulty? What is the engineering barrier? People would think nowadays many electronic modules can be embedded into one device. It is true. Many products have done that: our smart phones for a good example. But that doesn’t mean we can easily combine anything together. In the therapeutic device industry, most likely High Potential therapy devices are found to be standalone instruments, big in volume too. They typically serve one single modality: to provide high potential therapy. And that in and of itself is not an easy task already. There is a reason for that. The rule of thumb is: What most electronics dread the most (and thus try all things to avoid in their designs) is high electrical potential fields in their vicinity, externally or internally. Hypothetically if we placed an ultra high potential field inside our cell phone, immediately the countless diodes and capacitors in the circuit would start to self-discharge responding to the field. Any written programs would go crazy or shut down. The electronics would malfunction or cease operation. There is a technical term for that: electronic break-down due to high fields. For this reason, electronic devices’ engineers do everything and anything to exclude a high potential field scenario from the inside the device and try everything to insulate one from the exterior. Even so, most electronic devices will start to disfunction when they are placed too close to a high potential source. It is just matter of distance and intensity to/of the source. So what is it like to have an ultra high (20KV+) potential field placed internally in a device alongside all other working components? A High Potential Therapy device by nature needs to have that ultra high field generated from the interior. It is for therapeutic purpose and the output of it is not harmful to human beings (high field, low currents). The inner chamber has to generate and house that ultra high electrical field source. All the diodes , capacitors and the programmed chips in this small space or in the close vicinity of this space have to withstand this field. Now try to insert a fully-fledged PEMF module into the very same chamber, that PEMF and High Potential energies output simultaneously and through the very same surface for therapy. For many engineers this is just an unimaginable design. Common beliefs are that no sophisticated electronics could withstand this strong internal electrical field. ViGO Energy Med/Pal has done and does exactly this. All of its energies are fully functional simultaneously: High potential, PEMF, Thermal, Far infrared and Negative ions. Now going on to the thermal modality. Another rule of thumb: The other element a typical electronic device absolutely “hates” is HEAT. Most devices start to halt when internal temperature reaches past 70 C because most circuit elements start to malfunction past that. As we introduced, ViGO Energy Med/Pal integrates a thermal modality for the therapeutic heat output (important for the 5-in-1 therapy). Its surface thermal temperature is around 43C. This means the internal temperature could reach past 70C at times. External heat is a nuisance. Internal heat is just a recipe for absolute headaches in terms of complex engineering. ViGO Energy Med/Pal has a typical internal temperature of 65~70C. But it doesn’t malfunction and the device handles the heat internally very well. We will continue explaining the far-infrared modality and negative ions function that are inside ViGO Energy Med/Pal in future chapters. To sum up for now, the inner environment of ViGO Energy Med/Pal device is a combination of ultra high electrical field and high heat. The circuits, chips and all modules are located in this enclosed chamber. Instead of a two-part or three part device body, ViGO Energy Med/Pal chooses to be a one-part portable body device for ergonomics and therapeutic efficiency & superiority. ViGO Energy Med/Pal runs stably and problem-free at all time no matter what is thrown at it. It has been approved by all the standard tests it has been subjected to. This takes technological sophistication and a lot of experience. The chief engineers at ViGO come from an ultra high power device engineering background. This makes things possible. This is why ViGO Energy Med/Pal device is such a rare design and an engineering achievement underneath all that low key "simple" appearance.

ViGO Energy Med/Pal is designed and built from the ground up. It doesn’t mimic anything already available on the market. It is an innovation in and of itself. It has an array of uniqueness. Each of the uniqueness is for a better therapeutic experience. 1. ViGO Energy Med/Pal outputs 5 independent energies all at the same time, each of them with a specific therapeutic purpose. As a whole, ViGO Energy Med is a highly efficient therapeutic machine. No other brand on the market has been able to do pack this many energy forms in one product, let alone to be output simultaneously. 2. For what it packs in, ViGO Energy Med/Pal is surprisingly portable. At 6.5kg, it is isn’t lightweight. But it is portable enough to be lugged around, put anywhere for flexible yet stealthy therapy. It can fit most postures however we position our body. It is built like a tank, meaning it is durable for body weight to be on it and can withstand small drops. It is also low key on the exterior, that no part is fragile or protruding (or flashy), and smooth at surface and ultra comfortable to touch. Technology wise a huge amount of effort has been put in for this to be materialized. Comparatively, other devices not even near this caliber are much bulkier, more fragile and anything but portable and not as easy to use. 3. ViGO Energy Med/Pal’s energies’ intensity is ultra mild. While the effectiveness is retained, the intensities are tuned to the mildest levels possible. Contrary to common believes, effectiveness is not associated with absolute intensities. There are many other properties than intensity, eg. frequency, form and field property in play. Our body responds to cell level (ultra low intensity) energy pulses for functions and growth. It is this communication that makes the effective resonance happen. Because of its ultra mild intensity, uniquely ViGO Energy Med/Pal can be used 24/7, if one wants to, without the concern of any overdosage. Twenty years of market feedback more than confirms this design point. Just a side point, because of the ultra low intensities, ViGO Energy Med/Pal draws very little electricity from the wall socket. 4. ViGO Energy Med/Pal is fully automatic and fully optimized. The program is fully automatic without choices being provided. This means it is “fool-proof” and not confusing to use and not possible to be mis-handled. It is optimized for home use. Elderly people can use it without others’ assistance, middle age people can use it and young and children can also use it without needing to go through the Manual everytime. Healthy people and ill people, each group will receive the benefits from it. One can use it for 15mins a day or 15 hours a day at their own will. Just like good air is for everyone. In a way ViGO Energy Med/Pal mimics the natural energies of the Earth itself. A lot of knowledge has been put in the design of this device. Correct and ultra low intensities are chosen. Optimized form and sequences are written in it. Safe and effective. It is the know-how that is precious. Designed for long term home use without the need of a professional’s supervision. 5. East meets west technology. Eastern element has been imbedded. Western technology based. 6. Low key. Not in the way. Not to draw attention. No (superficial) flashy parts. No strong sensations while being used. Not to distract from doing other things (work, read, write, if one chooses to). Quiet. None accessories are needed for it to run. No consumables, short term or long term. No maintenance needed. Made to last a long time (designed lifetime to be 10 years. In reality 15 to 20 years still running.) Overall ViGO Energy Med/Pal is a highly unique product in the home therapeutic device field. And it has been extremely well received among its users/customers for the 20+ years (first generation to current generation) it has been on the market.

Depression is a common mental health disorder that affects millions of people worldwide. Traditional treatments for depression include medication and psychotherapy. However, some people do not respond well to these treatments, or they may experience side effects that they find unacceptable. PEMF therapy is a newer treatment option for depression. There is some evidence to suggest that PEMF therapy may be effective for treating depression. The theory behind PEMF therapy is that it can help to improve cell function and communication. This can lead to a number of benefits, including better neurological functions, improved mood, reduced pain, and increased energy levels. A 2018 study found that PEMF therapy was effective in reducing depression symptoms in people with treatment-resistant depression. Another study, published in 2020, found that PEMF therapy was effective in reducing depression symptoms in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). MS is a chronic disease that can cause fatigue, depression, and other mood problems. While more research is needed to confirm the effectiveness of PEMF therapy for depression, current results of these studies are promising. How PEMF Therapy Works for Depression. The exact way that PEMF therapy works for depression is not fully understood. However, it is thought that PEMF therapy can help to improve cell function and communication in the brain. The brain is made up of billions of cells, called neurons. Neurons communicate with each other through electrical signals. PEMF therapy is thought to help to improve the transmission of these electrical signals. PEMF therapy may also help to reduce inflammation in the brain. Inflammation is a common problem in people with depression. It is thought that inflammation can contribute to the development of depression symptoms. While many physical therapy methods are available and they each offer their own benefits, PEMF is quite unique in holding the effects of depression alleviation. This is observed from a good amount of clinical field studies and data. If someone is struggling with depression, and traditional treatments have not been effective, PEMF therapy is worth considering as an option. Negative ions are odorless, tasteless, and invisible molecules that can be found in nature on Earth. They are naturally created when air molecules collide with water vapor, dust, or other particles. Negative ions are abundant in certain environments, such as near waterfalls, on the ocean surf, and in mountains and forests. Negative ions have been shown to have a number of beneficial effects on human health. Microscopically an electron is negative in electrical charge by definition. Negative ions hold extra free electrons. Overall they hold negative electrical charge properties. Hence the name "negative" ions. When a human inhales or touches negative ions, these free electrons transfer from the ions into the human's body. These free electrons are as good as free ATPs. They are equivalent to clean energy at cellular level without needing the body to go through the digestive process, so the cells feel energetic while no digestive waste is produced. Free electrons also neutralize free radicals (which are positive in charge). Our body is born to be able to utilize negative ions. It is a subtle process but it makes a huge difference on our body energy and health. Some of negative ions' benefits include: Better daily energy. Energy at cellular level is replenished. Improved respiratory health: Negative ions can help to improve respiratory health by clearing the airways of mucus and bacteria. They have also been shown to be beneficial for people with asthma and other respiratory conditions. Boosted immune system function: Negative ions have been shown to boost immune system function by increasing the production of white blood cells. Reduced allergy symptoms: Negative ions can help to reduce allergy symptoms by clearing the air of allergens such as pollen, dust, and mold spores. Improved mood and cognitive function: Negative ions have been shown to increase levels of the mood-boosting neurotransmitter serotonin. They have also been shown to improve cognitive function, such as attention and memory. Reduced stress and anxiety: Negative ions can help to reduce stress and anxiety by promoting the release of calming hormones such as dopamine and GABA. Enhanced sleep quality: Negative ions can help to improve sleep quality by promoting the production of melatonin, a hormone that helps to regulate sleep-wake cycles. While the research on the health benefits of negative ions is still ongoing, there is a growing body of evidence to suggest that they can have a positive impact on our overall well-being. If you are looking for ways to improve your mood, reduce stress, or boost your immune system, spending time in environments where negative ions are abundant may be a helpful option. Unfortunately, our urban/metropolitan living environments are mostly depleted of natural negative ions. Here are some tips for increasing your exposure to negative ions: Go for walks in nature, especially near waterfalls, on the ocean surf, or in mountains and forests. Spend time near running water, such as in a stream or fountain. Use a negative ion generator or something that is similarly effective in your daily environment. PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) therapy is a non-invasive treatment that has been rapidly gaining popularity in the field of bone mass loss. This therapy has been shown to have several beneficial effects on promoting bone growth and reducing bone mass loss. In many countries around the globe, PEMF therapy is an common treatment method in hospitals that is prescribed for the treatment of bone loss and bone growth. Bone mass loss is a condition that occurs when the body loses more bone mass than it can replace. This can lead to a variety of problems, including osteoporosis, fractures, and other bone-related issues. PEMF therapy has been shown to help reduce bone mass loss by its penetrating fields stimulating bone cell growth and increasing bone density. Studies have shown that PEMF therapy can help increase bone density in individuals with osteoporosis, a condition that causes bones to become weak and brittle. In one study, postmenopausal women with osteoporosis were treated with PEMF therapy for six months. The results showed that the women experienced significant increases in bone density, particularly in the hip and spine. PEMF therapy has also been shown to promote bone growth in individuals who have had bone fractures. In one study, individuals with bone fractures were treated with PEMF therapy for eight weeks. The results showed that the individuals experienced significant increases in bone growth and reduced healing time. PEMF is also found to have an effect on cartilage repair. In addition to promoting bone growth and reducing bone mass loss, PEMF therapy has also been shown to have other beneficial effects on the human body. For example, it has been shown to reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and promote tissue repair which can also contribute to bone health. Bone structures typically lack capillaries. Substances’ transportation is therefore difficult within bones. One of the reasons why PEMF therapy is so effective at promoting bone growth and reducing bone mass loss is because its waves arrive at the cellular level without obstruction. PEMF therapy works by stimulating the production of ATP, a molecule that is essential for cellular energy. When cells have more energy, they are better able to carry out their functions, including building and repairing bone tissue within bone structures.

The mechanism behind High Electric Potential Therapy is that certain specially designed high potential electrical fields can help to heighten cell membrane potential and thus restore cell functions, and also possibly as a result regulate nervous system. The electrical fields are found to help improve blood circulation, increase metabolism, and stimulate the immune system. These effects can lead to a range of health benefits, including improved sleep quality. Studies have been conducted to determine the effect. A 2017 Osaka Japan study published as Electric Field Exposure Improves Subjective Symptoms Related to Sleeplessness in College Students: A Pilot Study of Electric Field Therapy for Sleep Disorder by Takashi Ohtsuki and team which conducted a small, randomized, single-blinded, placebo-controlled trial found that exposure to high-voltage electric fields improved subjective sleep symptoms in college students. The study collected objective data through sleep diaries and sleep-scans, demonstrating improvements in sleep length, refreshing, and sleepiness on rising. It concludes: "The beneficial effect of electric field therapy on sleep disorder in college students is… beyond a placebo effect. " Another study conducted in Japan found that patients who underwent high potential therapy experienced significant improvements in their sleep quality. The study found that patients who received the therapy had an increase in deep sleep, a decrease in the number of times they woke up during the night, and an overall improvement in their sleep quality. Also a study conducted in Taiwan found similar results, with patients who received high potential therapy experiencing significant improvements in their sleep quality. The study also found that patients who received the therapy had lower levels of stress and anxiety, which can also contribute to a better night's sleep. Scientists have yet to pinpoint the exact cause of sleep disorders and provide a universal solution. But High Electrical Potential Therapy is believed to work by energizing the body's cells, improving circulation and metabolism. This reduces nervous stress, lightens the heart’s burden and improves mental & body’s calmness. A good amount of field data in Asia for years has also been examined and the result conforms the effect. In countries like Japan, Korea etc, sleep disorder improvement is now a formally recognized and written indication associated with High Potential Therapy.

Far Infrared Ray (FIR) therapy is a type of treatment that uses Far Infrared Rays to heal the body. FIR is a form of electromagnetic radiation that has the ability to penetrate deep into the body, providing a range of health benefits. One of the most significant benefits of FIR therapy is its ability to reduce inflammation. Inflammation is a natural response of the body to injury or infection, but it can also be a chronic condition that leads to a range of health problems, including arthritis, heart disease, and even cancer. FIR therapy works by increasing the temperature of the body, which stimulates the production of heat shock proteins. These proteins help to reduce inflammation in the body, which can lead to a reduction in pain and other symptoms associated with chronic inflammation. Another significant benefit of FIR therapy is its ability to improve circulation. Improved circulation is essential for maintaining good health, as it helps to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the body's tissues and organs. FIR therapy works by increasing the temperature of the body, which causes blood vessels to dilate. This, in turn, improves blood flow throughout the body, which can lead to improved overall health and wellbeing. FIR therapy has also been shown to have a positive effect on the immune system. FIR therapy works by increasing the production of white blood cells, which are the cells responsible for fighting off infections. This, in turn, can help to boost the immune system. In addition to these benefits, FIR therapy has also been shown to have a positive effect on bone health. Research has shown that FIR therapy can help to promote bone growth and reduce healing time. This is because FIR therapy works by stimulating the production of osteoblasts, which are the cells responsible for building new bone tissue. Yes, there have been a large number of research studies conducted on the beneficial effects of Far Infrared Ray (FIR) therapy. One study published in the Journal of the Medical Devices & Diagnostic Engineering found that FIR therapy can boost the immune system by increasing the activity of certain immune cells called natural killer cells. This can help to improve the body's ability to fight off infections and diseases. Another study published in the Journal of the Medical Association of Thailand found that FIR therapy helped to reduce inflammation and improve circulation in patients with knee osteoarthritis. The study also showed that FIR therapy helped to reduce pain and improve overall quality of life in these patients. Another study published in the Journal of Clinical Densitometry found that FIR therapy can help to promote bone health by stimulating the production of osteoblasts, which are cells that are responsible for building new bone tissue. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals suffering from bone loss or recovering from a bone injury. To summarize, FIR therapy has been shown to have numerous beneficial effects on the body, including reducing inflammation, improving circulation, promoting bone health and boosting the immune system.

Single-energy therapy devices are the most common therapy devices to-date. Number wise, they dominate the market. Each of them typically outputs one (and only one) single energy that is designed for therapeutic purpose. Examples of these single energies include High Potential, PEMF, Far Infrared, Thermal, Negative Ion etc. Each single energy has a specific focus of direction in terms of the therapeutic effect on our body. Some focuses on injury repairing, some focuses on tissue regrowth, some focuses on cell membrane efficiency boost, some focuses on regulation of the nerve system, some focuses on absorption of subtances, some focuses on circulation improvement and some other has effects of boosting the immune system. Typically a single-energy therapy bears just one or two of these effects mentioned above (although they might claim more), which is normal and already a legit solution for therapy. With advancement of technology, multi-energy therapy devices started to appear. But they are still the minority of the market. For reasons that include: 1.Technological barriers: Energy generating modules take space and conflict/interfere with each other. They fight for the surface area too. 2. Higher cost and higher research input. 3.Concept still lack of recognition although rising. For the reasons mentioned above, few companies in the therapy device industry have fully committed themselves in the multi-energied direction. It is a technologically difficult route to take. But Why Multi-Energy Therapy? Why in our opinion it is worth everything? The short answer: the ultimate efficacy that can be derived from a modern therapy device yet. Many of these single-energy therapies are field recognized methods on their own. So do why we want to apply them all at once in one single device? Or Can we apply these single-energy therapy in time sequence and expect a similar effect? The answer is also: Not really. Because for energy therapy, simultaneity is key.  When done right, a simultaneity of multi-modality energy intervention can bring up a unmatched level of efficacy in terms of wellness improvement in our body. A cell level explanation is given below. 100 trillions of cells exist and function simultaneously in a human's body. Quadrillions of molecular-level reactions take place at any given moment. This is a giant number. These reactions make up all the vital activities that take place inside (intra) and outside (inter) our human cells. These vital activities can be categorized into many key types. i.e. Oxygen Transport, ionic substance-transport, Mitochondria Respiration, ATP-production, inter cell transport, intra cell transport, Protease Function, Membrane Potential pumping, Enzyme Process, Cell building, Cell-repairing, Immune Response and many more etc. Single-energied therapy devices do work in enhancing our bodily functions. However, each energy typically enhances one or two certain vital activity types inside our body. It is all about “Simultaneity”. But in the human body, all the vital activities of different types take place simultaneously and synergistically (meaning interrelated), in any given body area (/system) at any given time. This means all these processes proceed all together. One type of process can not go on far without the other types’ simultaneous progress. For a quick instance, the ATP production can’t improve without the enhancement of oxygen uptake through the membrane into the cell. Vice versa. The sole enhancement of oxygen uptake wouldn’t help if the ATP production efficiency inside a cell doesn’t improve. Now we understand the human body is an ecosystem that its functions are intricately interrelated. When people age, not just one link, but all links in the system weaken by a proportional extent. One link can not sustainably improve on its own unless all related elements are enhanced accordingly and preferably with the same rate. In a way, every single link is on its own “locked”. A singular enhancement is still possible, but will be very temporary and transient. On the contary, in a multi-modality energy therapy scenario, different therapeutic energies address the improvement of different vital activity types. And if we get to address enough different vital activity types simultaneously, we can unlock the barriers. The different columns of the system get to be lifted at the same time. A sustained improvement of overall state can be realistic. Now that the concept takes form, the actual selection of these energies requires a large amount of study. ‘How should the different energies be applied in relation to each other, spatially and chronically, to maximize types of effects and achieve the results we were after’? Also ‘How many energies are enough’ ? The more the better or not? What about intensities and frequencies? Safe yet effective. How should these energy outputs be materialized? Could they be constructed within the limited space of a practical device, with all the optimal parameters and specifications desired? And all the energies need to output through one common surface so the idea becomes fact that they are applied simultaneously. Ultimately the field data from application has to come back and prove the design's legitimacy and superiority. This is exactly how our Energy Med/Pal devices had been created. Multi-Energy therapy is a difficult route, but it is a rewarding one. Here at VIGO we believe it is the future. That is: portable, pratical, optimized, multi-energy therapy technology.

When we present VIGO Energy Pal/Energy Med, an important terminology or similar is alway visible: High Voltage Electrical Potential Therapy. You might wonder what this is, and what its relation to PEMF is. Although both in the electro-magnetic area, High Potential and PEMF are actually two independent therapy methods, with the former focusing on electricity and the latter focusing on magnetism, which are both essential to our human body functions. High Electrical Potential Therapy (HEPT or HELP) also know as High Voltage Electrostatic Potential Therapy, or High Electro Potential Therapy is a major type of modern physical therapy. A High Electro Potential Therapy device generates a well controlled, high electric field, very high in electric potential, very low in electric current (therefore safe and nearly undetectable). The use of high-voltage energy does not mean electrical current is passed through the body. When the human body is placed in this field, it is snugly wrapped in an electrical field. This high electric field can be regarded as countless micro electric fields, and every single body cell now is in one micro electric field. These micro electric fields have the special ability to boost the electric potential of cell membranes and to enhance the absorption of nutrition particles, to expedite the discharge of waste elements through the membranes, to revitalize the cell itself, and to revitalize the body in whole as a result. For example, mitochondrion is a cell too. Its membrane potential and therefore exchange efficiency can also benefit from an effective High Potential Therapy. As our body's "powerhouses", mitochondria’s vitality greatly affects all metabolic functions and therefore all body functions. Many health problems originate from degenerated cell vitalities (due to many reasons). When body cells are revitalized, previously degenerated cells tissues organs and systems have a good opportunity to regrow, rebuild, repair and recover. Healthy human body cells have the ability to clean up wastes, output toxins. One effect of revitalized blood cells is that blood clots/blockages start to be removed by the body itself. A large variety of chronic problems originate from poor circulation/blood blockage and can could be relieved by the therapy. Accumulated toxins previously stuck inside organs due to degenerated cells start to come out of the system once the organ cells are revitalized and back to work. HEPT(HELP) also has an observed effect on neural cells. Neural systems tend to be abundant with electric charge. When neural cells degenerate through aging and thus cell charge becomes disordered, the whole neural system is affected. With its highly ordered field, HEPT seems to bear a special ability to regulate neural cell charges. Primitive High Electrical Potential Therapy devices were invented in Japan about a century ago. Technology has since improved but the underlying mechanism largely remains. One interesting observation is that, while PEMF Therapy is universally recognized in the west, HEPT therapy is highly regarded in the eastern part of the world in the modern therapy field.  HEPT is being actively applied across Eastern Asia in both the main stream and alternative medicine fields. Today HEPT is an important modality of modern physical therapy, for its effectiveness and uniqueness. HEPT and PEMF therapies are no replacement for each other. On the contrary, they are good complement for each other as far as effects go. Because of HEPT’s importance and effectiveness, VIGO Energy Pal/Med has taken it to be part of its distinctive therapy functions alongside the PEMT function. But the HEPT technology bears a certain barrier to be integrated into to a therapy device. Let alone a therapy device that already incorporates the PEMF function module, and three more functionalities all at the same time. VIGO Energy Pal/Med has proudly done it. VIGO Energy Pal’s energies are multi-layered. One of the layers is HEPT.

A recent Austrian research shows PEMF treatment might have a positive effect on post-COVID-fatigue. Wagner, B., Steiner, M., Markovic, L. et al. Successful application of pulsed electromagnetic fields in a patient with post-COVID-19 fatigue: a case report. Wien Med Wochenschr 172, 227–232 (2022). https://doi.org/10.1007/s10354-021-00901-2 As mentioned in the article. Post-COVID-19 fatigue is a frequent symptom, which substantially limits patients to achieve full recovery and potentially restrains return to work. In the study, a 55-year-old patient presented with persisting weakness, tiredness, and exhaustion since the infection with SARS-CoV‑2 6.5 months ago. COVID-19 disease had initially caused respiratory symptoms, myalgia, cephalea, and anosmia. She had been on sick leave for 3 weeks, taking medication twice daily for pain control. Her main complaint was fatigue, which severely affected her workability. The patient had not received any treatment for her fatigue symptoms specifically. In the study, the patient then received 10 sessions of PEMF(pulsed electromagnetic field) twice weekly for 5 weeks, each session lasting 30 min. The patient reported an increase in energy and a decrease of fatigue symptoms as of the fourth treatment session, with improvements continuing over the following sessions. After completing all 10 sessions, she felt fully recovered and able to face challenges in work and private life. Wellbeing continued at the follow-up evaluation 6 weeks later. Fatigue, work ability, quality of life, and psychological well-being improved clearly over the course of the treatment and showed stable results 6 weeks later. "The BFI score decreased from 6.33 (moderate fatigue) at baseline to 0.22 (no fatigue) post intervention. The largest improvements were seen in the dimensions of mood, work, relationship, and enjoyment of life." The author wrote in the Conclusion section of the report: "The use of pulsed electromagnetic field therapy with a device that allows sufficient penetration of the body tissue might be a promising physical modality to manage post-COVID-19 fatigue syndrome, which could reduce clinical and economic health consequences. Clinical sham-controlled studies are needed to evaluate the effect of PEMF on patients with post-COVID-19 fatigue syndrome." Wagner, B., Steiner, M., Markovic, L. 等人。 Wien Med Wochenschr 172, 227–232 (2022)。

Pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs) have been used to treat almost every conceivable human illness or malady, including many inflammatory diseases such as arthritis or psoriasis. PEMF therapy has been associated with pain reduction, and accelerated healing. PEMFs exert these effects by regulating processes involving inflammation and autoimmune diseases, among other biologic actions. WHAT IS INFLAMMATION? Inflammation is a cascade of physiological processes instigated by the body to repair cellular damage in tissues with good blood supply and to restore the tissue to its normal function. Characteristic signs and symptoms that accompany inflammation include: – redness generated by increased blood flow, – heat generated by the metabolism of leukocytes and macrophages recruited to the damaged site, – swelling due to edema, and – pain caused by the production of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. Inflammation is the net result of a cascade of biologic processes that is generated and supported by the interaction of a number of immune cell types, including lymphocytes, macrophages and neutrophils, with other cell types such as the fibroblasts, endothelial cells and vascular smooth muscle cells playing a regulatory role in the cascade. Basically, inflammation is your body trying to heal itself from an injury or other disruption. ACUTE VS. CHRONIC INFLAMMATION AND INJURY RECOVERY While inflammation is a necessary and beneficial process, its intensity during the initial acute phase can be abnormally exaggerated, and often persists longer than necessary, developing into chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation is associated with dysfunction of one or more parts of the immune system and leads to the ongoing tissue damage found in diseases like tendinitis, arthritis or psoriasis. Chronic inflammation is also a cause of cancer and Alzheimer’s disease, among many other disease conditions. WHAT CAUSES INFLAMMATION IN THE BODY? The various cell types and metabolic pathways that generate inflammation provide numerous targets for therapies aimed at controlling inflammation in the acute phase and in preventing progression to chronic inflammation. Inflammation can be initiated by many causes, and knowing and understanding the nature of the cause is important in designing therapeutic approaches. In bacterial infections, early infiltration of the affected tissues by polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMNs), a type of white blood cell, is followed by the arrival of T cells, an event that is required to kill bacteria. In this circumstance, eliminating T cells can delay or stop healing. In trauma-induced injury, T cells are less important for healing tissue damage, and may be harmful if present for long periods. In this case early elimination of T cells in the acute phase of inflammation could minimize the unwanted effects of inflammation, accelerate healing, and reduce the risk of chronic inflammatory disease. In chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and chronic tendinitis, persistence of the disease state depends on the presence of T cells. Here, removing T cells would be a favorable approach of therapy for these and similar chronic conditions. HOMEOSTASIS AND CELLS OUT OF BALANCE T cells are a major regulator of the inflammatory cascade. Research has shown that PEMFs can induce the appropriate death of T lymphocytes, by actions on T cell membranes and key enzymes in cells. For example, PEMFs have been found to affect ion flow through specific cell membrane channels, including those for sodium, potassium and calcium, that positively affect these enzymes. These appropriate effects help with reducing chronic inflammation. Normal cells are not usually impacted by magnetic fields. Compromised cells, called meta-stable cells, are more likely to be impacted. This means that PEMFs have more impact in circumstances where there is imbalance in tissues or cells, i.e. where there is pathology or chronic inflammation. Where homeostasis in the body is robust, PEMFs, especially weaker PEMFs, are unlikely to have effects. For example, activation of the T cell receptor, such as happens with PEMFs, also activates various processes in the cell that within five minutes after removing the activating signal, these activated processes return to normal levels. REDUCTION OF INFLAMMATION AND PAIN WITH PEMFS Significant changes occur in other white blood cells called lymphocytes, from both low intensity, low-frequency PEMFs and even DC/permanent magnetic fields. PEMFs interact with cellular systems in often unexpected ways. This means that increasing frequency and or intensity does not always produce a one-to-one change in reaction intensity. PEMFs inhibit growth and the natural death of unwanted lymphocytes that decreases inflammation. The PEMF inhibition of lymphocytes and then inflammatory processes appears to be most obvious 48 and 72 hours after PEMF treatment and then the PEMF effect seems to disappear. This indicates that the effects of PEMFs can work well with other natural treatments. USING PEMF THERAPY FOR TENDONITIS, ARTHRITIS AND SIMILAR CONDITIONS PEMF use for inflammation needs to be optimized so that exposure will lead to long-lasting, therapeutically relevant outcomes. Pulse-burst-modulated higher frequency fields seem to be much more effective than other frequency signals, and therefore produce improved therapeutic outcomes. While particular types of signals may be most effective, a positive response is often seen to various kinds of magnetic stimuli. There appear to be similar effects on lymphocytes using pulsed bone healing fields, versus sinusoidal power line frequency fields. Pulsed PEMFs with intensities from 5-25 MilliTesla had no effects on normal T cells. This means there is no apparent damage to normal lymphocytes. Inflammatory T cells produce interleukin-2 (IL-2), which stimulates growth of T cells. When IL-2 levels are high enough, it increases desired early elimination of these chronic inflammatory cells. Cells exposed to pulsed PEMFs can make up to a threefold increase in IL-2. There appear to be PEMF intensity windows, but these have not been well defined. Frequency windows have been found to vary across different types of tissue cells in the body. The frequency ranges appear to be quite narrow for bone cells. For lymphocytes the frequency windows seem to be broader. Even 5-100 hertz, 0.15 mT signals modulate calcium flux in lymphocytes, 50 Hz PEMFs having the greatest effect. Frequency fields, combined with parallel static magnetic fields have also been found to have action. It is important to know that PEMFs affect all lymphocytes, including B cells and T cells and other human lymphoid cell lines. HOW PEMFS CAN HELP INFLAMMATION AND PAIN PEMF therapy specifically targets cells that are meta-stable as a consequence of disease or other ongoing therapies. Thus, PEMFs can be an important cellular therapy in many diseases, including cancer, psoriasis, wound healing, and bacterial infections because of their effects on reducing chronic inflammation. It is important that normal homeostatically stable cells are not harmed by PEMFs, allowing other treatments to be more effective without proportional increases in side effects. In chronic inflammatory diseases, cells are characteristically maintained in meta-stable states, as a consequence of cytokine secretions and other stressors associated with the disease. In these cases, PEMFs can work as a stand-alone anti-inflammatory therapy. Even weak, low-frequency PEMFs induce apoptosis in activated T cells, thereby reducing chronic inflammation without negatively affecting acute inflammation. Overall, PEMF is an ideal therapy for both acute and chronic inflammation and pain conditions due to the way that it interacts with our biology on a cellular level. By correcting physiological imbalances pain is reduced in the short term while long term healing and recovery is optimized.

Diabetes is an increasing problem around the world. Vascular disease is one of the most common complications of diabetes. Because of this, wound healing in diabetics is a major health challenge. Short of curing and reversing diabetes, managing the complications would be much improved by the use of such technologies as pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs). Because of the diabetic vascular disease and wound healing problems, 15% of diabetics eventually develop the disastrous and disabling problem of a foot ulcer, which, in 12% to 24% of cases, requires amputation. Diabetes is the leading cause of non-injury-related lower leg and foot amputations in the United States. PEMF therapy initiated early in someone’s history of diabetes can be useful to prevent the development of vascular complications. Even if or when vascular problems become obvious, higher intensity local PEMF therapy should be strongly considered. PEMF Promote White Blood Cells to Heal Significant experimental scientific evidence has shown that PEMF therapy: Encourages white blood cells to heal the endothelium (the linings of blood vessels) Stimulates angiogenesis (the growth of new blood vessels) when there are blockages of blood vessels Boosts the rapid growth of myofibroblasts and keratinocytes (cells necessary to build new blood vessels) Improves the symptoms of diabetic peripheral neuropathy Promotes diabetic wound healing Human studies have shown that full body PEMFs stimulate mononuclear cells (tissue rebuilding cells) that promote angiogenesis and healing of chronic foot ulcers. PEMF Study of Diabetic Foot Ulcer Healing A study (Cañedo-Dorantes et al., 2015) was done to evaluate the use of specific PEMFs applied indirectly to different parts of the body to induce healing of diabetic foot ulcers. The study also evaluated whether exposing different volumes of circulating blood to electromagnetic fields would produce better results. Procedure In the study, 26 diabetics whose diabetic foot ulcers had not been helped by conventional treatments were divided into two groups—a forearm group and a chest group—to receive treatment and record healing time. In both groups, 120 Hz sinusoidal wave PEMFs were applied twice a week for about 14 weeks or until complete healing was seen. The forearm group received 8 gauss (0.8 milli-tesla) for 2 hours per treatment. The chest group received 6 gauss (0.6 milli-tesla) for 25 minutes per treatment. (Gauss and tesla are units that measure the strength of magnetic fields.) Ulcer recurrences and adverse effects were investigated during short-term (less than 1 year) and long-term (3.4 years to 7.8 years) follow-up. Results Healing time ranged from 28 days to 94 days (mean, 61 days) in the forearm group, and 34 days to 92 days (mean, 63 days) in the chest group. By the end of the 100-day treatment period, 88% of the diabetic foot ulcers in the forearm group were healed and 94% in the chest group. There were no adverse effects or ulcer recurrences in the original ulcer site during treatment, during the short-term follow-up period, or during the long-term follow-up period in both groups. All participants with diabetic foot ulcers that healed during the study and were examined 3.4 to 7.8 years after treatment ended continued to show healed ulcer areas regardless of their electromagnetic stimulation regime or individual characteristics. The size of the pool of circulating blood treated (chest versus forearm) did not appear to matter even though the treatment time for the chest was only 20% of the forearm time. Also, it’s quite possible that higher intensity PEMFs would have produced even better results. Comparing the Healing Rates of PEMFs to Other Diabetic Ulcer Therapies It would be helpful to have a sense of how well other therapies work versus PEMFs. Various studies have shown the following results: Silver dressings: 22% to 31% Graft materials: 30% to 56% Platelet concentrates: 79% Casting: 82% to 95% PEMF therapy: 88% to 94% Because each of these studies used different treatment periods, it’s easiest to speak about the percentage of healing during the time of the study. Most of these studies used 84 days for the study period; others used 56 days and 43 days. So, even the indirect approach to healing diabetic foot ulcers with these PEMFs produced a healing benefit comparable to—or better than—conventional therapies. This suggests common physiologic effects that result in the healing action. Further Evidence Supporting PEMF Therapy Recent evidence suggests that PEMFs stimulate certain cell receptors known as adenosine receptors that are on most types of white blood cells. White blood cells are needed to decrease inflammation and stimulate tissue healing. This research indicates that the optimal PEMF intensity to stimulate white blood cells is about 15 gauss (1.5 milli-tesla). So, stimulating white blood cells in the circulation can still impact ulcers away from the area of stimulation. It can also be expected that PEMF treatment of an ulcer directly, with or without whole body treatment, would get even better results and faster. Conclusion Routine whole body PEMF treatment is advisable for every diabetic to prevent or reduce vascular complications using a sufficient electromagnetic field intensity to adequately and routinely stimulate circulating white blood cells. Efficacy and safety evaluation of systemic extremely low frequency magnetic fields used in the healing of diabetic foot ulcers—phase II data. Arch Med Res. 2015 Aug;46(6):470-8. Clinical trial on Vigo by St Mary's University in London reported multiple health benefits

In the realm of alternative medicine, both Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy and acupuncture have gained recognition for their potential to promote healing and well-being. While these approaches may seem distinct at first glance, a closer examination reveals fascinating similarities that underlie their effectiveness. This article will delve into the core principles and mechanisms behind PEMF therapy and acupuncture, highlighting the shared elements that contribute to their therapeutic benefits. Historical Origins Acupuncture, an ancient Chinese practice, dates back over 2,500 years. It is based on the concept of balancing the body's energy flow, known as Qi, through the insertion of fine needles into specific points along energy pathways called meridians. Similarly, PEMF therapy has a rich history, originating from the discovery of electromagnetic fields by Nikola Tesla. The therapeutic potential of PEMF was later recognized and refined by various researchers and practitioners. Energy and Bioelectricity Both PEMF therapy and acupuncture operate on the fundamental premise that the human body is an intricate web of energy. Acupuncture identifies this energy as Qi, while PEMF therapy focuses on the body's bioelectricity. Both approaches aim to influence and restore the balance of these vital energies. PEMF therapy employs electromagnetic fields to induce electrical changes within cells, tissues, and organs. This stimulation supports cellular metabolism, promotes the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and enhances the body's self-regulatory mechanisms. Acupuncture, on the other hand, targets specific acupoints to stimulate or calm the flow of Qi along meridians, facilitating the restoration of balance and harmony within the body. Regulation of Vital Systems PEMF therapy and acupuncture share the objective of regulating essential bodily systems. Acupuncture needles, when strategically placed, can affect the autonomic nervous system, which controls vital functions such as heart rate, blood pressure, and digestion. It also influences the release of endorphins and neurotransmitters, contributing to pain relief and overall well-being. Similarly, PEMF therapy's electromagnetic fields penetrate deep into tissues, stimulating cellular activity and triggering a cascade of physiological responses. This modality can influence the nervous system, immune system, and circulatory system, facilitating pain reduction, tissue repair, and enhanced overall health. Pain Management and Healing Both PEMF therapy and acupuncture have demonstrated effectiveness in managing pain and promoting healing. Acupuncture's ability to stimulate the release of endogenous opioids, serotonin, and other neurotransmitters helps reduce pain perception. Moreover, it improves blood circulation and accelerates tissue healing, making it valuable for musculoskeletal conditions, migraines, and various chronic ailments. PEMF therapy, too, has been recognized for its pain-relieving properties. By promoting cellular regeneration and increasing blood flow, it aids in tissue repair and regeneration. Additionally, PEMF therapy supports the body's natural healing processes by reducing inflammation and stimulating the production of collagen and other proteins necessary for tissue repair. Holistic Approach to Wellness Both PEMF therapy and acupuncture embrace a holistic view of health, recognizing the interconnectedness of the body, mind, and spirit. They prioritize treating the root cause of ailments rather than merely addressing symptoms. By enhancing the body's innate healing abilities and promoting balance, both modalities aim to optimize overall well-being and restore harmony within the body. Conclusion While PEMF therapy and acupuncture may differ in their methods of application, they share striking similarities in their underlying principles and therapeutic mechanisms. Both approaches harness the body's energy and electrical systems, regulate vital functions, manage pain, and promote healing. By exploring these shared elements, we gain a deeper understanding of the remarkable parallels between PEMF therapy and acupuncture.

PEMF therapy, also known as Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy, is a non-invasive form of therapy that uses electromagnetic fields to promote healing in the body. PEMF therapy has been shown to have several benefits for bone health. In this article, we will discuss the ways in which PEMF therapy can benefit bone health and improve bone density. Promotes bone growth and regeneration PEMF therapy has been shown to promote bone growth and regeneration by stimulating bone cells known as osteoblasts. These cells are responsible for the formation of new bone tissue. PEMF therapy has been shown to increase the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts, which can lead to the formation of new bone tissue. Reduces inflammation and pain Inflammation and pain can be major contributors to bone loss and osteoporosis. PEMF therapy has been shown to reduce inflammation and pain by increasing circulation and promoting the body's natural healing processes. This can lead to a reduction in bone loss and an improvement in bone density.
